How to use a Facial Scrub
Exfoliating, a process that removes dead skin, is especially important for people with oily skin. A good facial scrub may take some experimentation to decide on for your particular pH and skin type. Using a facial scrub once or twice a week can help reduce small lines and make your skin softer.
Instructions
01.
Pin your hair back to expose the hairline or use a headband to keep your hair out of your face.02.
Squeeze a quarter-sized portion into the palm of your hand and add a few drops of water so that the scrub isn't quite liquid but it moves easier than it does straight out of the bottle. Move the scrub around so that it covers your fingertips.03.
Begin applying the scrub in a circular motion, starting at the chin and working outward and upward. Be gentle as you move across the upper lip and work around the eyes. Don't apply the scrub to the eyelids. Give a couple of extra circular rubs to the cheeks, forehead and chin. These areas tend to collect dead cells more frequently and easily.04.
Rinse off the scrub gently. Make sure to keep your eyes closed as you do this. Use spring or filtered water if possible to care for the new skin that is now at the surface. Apply a light moisturizer to finish.
Tips & Warnings
Plan to exfoliate with a facial scrub about twice a week if your skin is oily. For dry skin or wintertime face care, exfoliating once a week or every 10 days is sufficient. Experiment to see what works best for your skin and during different seasons.
- Facial scrubs come in many varieties, and certain ingredients will work better with your body's chemistry. Try samples or buy smaller packages until you find the one that works for you.
